Forget me not

And so while it is true blue in the garden, the latest WIP is as vibrant in colour as usual. Here is my version of the Babette blanket with a definitely Bollywoodish colour scheme.

And to celebrate a hero of our islands, a tribute in song by a band of young Martinicans. Honor and respect to the Elder, the Fundamental Negro, the poet Aimé Césaire, who died this week.

Day of the Triffids

This morning the postman didn't have to ring twice, even though it was barely 8 o'clock, and I was still in bed. "The aliens" were coming, delivered to my doorstep in their translucent green plastic pods, like every spring and autumn in the last four or five years.

Now, I am not sure if I'd had the idea before, or if coming across Patfran's blog prompted it, but I have decided to start an afghan of my own, using the silk I bought last summer, while my musical half was away and I spent more time than was sensible roaming around ebay. It will definitely have an Indian touch with a lot of fuschia and gold. I took the circs to Madrid and knitted one of the squares while queueing to get into the Descalzas Reales convent, much to the embarrassment of my teenage son.

Do not do this at home!

Well, in fact, you're supposed to do it at work: my favourite physicist came across one of those incredible websites that sell all kinds of useless and unbelievable junk. . So he wondered if he should abandon virtual galactic warfare in favour of this, which, according to the blurb, is sure to make your workplace fun and lively :

It was to be some kind of apolyptical showdown, as far as I could understand, having a very limited knowledge of all things to do with gaming and virtual cosmic warfare. The great "Alliance of the Lions" was to end its glorious existence within the universe of Ogame at midnight on April 1st (they should have seen it coming) by simultaneous self-inflicted death of all its members. Apparently the old-timers, the Alpha males and distinguished warriors of the pack all agreed that the only way out of boredom and inevitable decline was to go with a bang; but the new players, and those who felt happy within the safety of a strong alliance refused the suicide pact, and so, as my own Alpha male put it: "it will be a slow and painful death".
